What Is Varicose Veins?

1.What is varicose veins?

They are abnormal, dilated veins.Varicose veins refer to tortuous, larger ones. Often these are caused by malfunction of the valves in the veins. Healthy valves ensure a single direction flow of blood in the veins from the feet back to the heart.Failure of these valves allows backflow (venous reflux) which causes pressure build-up and bulging of the veins.

2.Who need to be treated?

Varicose veins are those knotty and discolored veins caused by blood pooling in the legs.  They are often enlarged, swollen, and twisting veins and can appear blue or dark purple. Varicose veins rarely need treatment for health reasons, but if you have swelling, aching,  painful legs, and considerable discomfort, then you need treatment.

3.Treatment principle

The principle of photothermal action of laser is used to heat the inner wall of the vein, destroy the blood vessel and cause it to shrink and close. A closed vein can no longer carry blood, eliminating the bulging vein.

4.How long does it take for veins to heal after laser treatment?

The results of laser treatment for spider veins are not immediate. After laser treatment, the blood vessels under the skin will gradually change from dark blue to light red and eventually disappear within two to six weeks (on average).
