EVLA – Endovenous Laser Ablation of Varicose Veins

Endovenous laser ablation goes under several proprietary names e.g. EVLT, ELVes, VeinSeal, depending on the manufacturer of the laser. We use the general term EVLA for Endovenous Laser Ablation, as all the various types of laser ablation are essentially the same.

Product description

The 980nm laser with equal absorption in water and blood, offers a robust all-purpose surgical tool, and at 30Watts of output, a high power source for endovascular work.

Why 360 Radial Fiber ?

Radial fiber that emits at 360° affords the ideal endovenous thermal ablation. It is therefore possible to gently and evenly introduce the laser energy into the lumen of the vein and ensure the closure of the vein based on photothermal destruction (at temperatures between 100 and 120°C).

TRIANGEL RADIAL FIBER is equipped with safety markings for optimal control of the pullback process.

Product Applications

Endovenous occlusion of great saphenous vain and small saphenus vain

Endovenous laser ablation (EVLA) treats major varicose veins previously treated by stripping surgery. With ultrasound guidance, a laser fibre is placed into the abnormal vein through a tiny incision. The vein is then numbed with local anaesthetic, and the laser activated as the fibre is slowly removed. This produces a reaction in the vein wall along the treated section, resulting in collapse and sclerosis of the vein wall with minimal discomfort.
The published success of EVLA treatment is between 95-98%, with far fewer complications than surgery. With the addition of EVLA to ultrasound guided sclerotherapy, it is expected that varicose vein surgery will be performed much less frequently in the future.

Endovenous laser varicose vein surgery is a procedure that uses heat from a laser to reduce varicose veins. Varicose veins are swollen, bulging veins that often happen on the thighs or calves. A laser is a device that sends a thin beam of radiation in the form of light.
Laser surgery closes and shrinks the varicose vein and causes scar tissue within the vessel. This seals off the vein. Blood then flows through other nearby veins instead.
